In August 2019, it was reported that the national government has stated to roll out a program that would further improve the road networks towards the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO).

Dubbed as DTI-DPWH convergence project as part of the Roads Leveraging Linkages for Industry and Trade (ROLL IT), this initiative “aims to boost investments and other economic activities in the country through more road projects leading to manufacturing and economic zone” in Dinalungan, Casiguran and Dilasag. APECO is situated in Casiguran.

DTI Provincial Director Edna Dizon, as reported in PNA said that about Php13.95 million has been allotted for this project starting with the ongoing concreting of Calabgan road connecting to APECO in Casiguran where industry sector badly needs road facilities and connectivity.

Director Dizon further added that “the project will lessen the travel time of APECO locators, shared service facility (SSF), cooperator, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and its beneficiaries for the marketing, distribution, delivery of agricultural products, and other by-products. It will also reduce the expenses of local residents transporting their agricultural products in Aurora”. (nab)
